Giacomo Puccinis: Il Trittico
SHYC marks the 100th anniversary of Il Trittico, Puccini's trio of short operas. First is Il Tabarro. a verismo drama about a spurned husband seeking to discover his wife's lover. Suor Angelica is the tragic story of a nun who receives unbearable news when an estranged relative unexpectedly visits. The comic finale is Gianni Schicchi, in which a group of greedy relatives are duped out of their inheritances following the death of their family patriarch. Lucio Gallo, Ermonela Jaho and Eva-Maria Westbroek star with Antonio Pappano conducting this Royal Opera performance, sung in Italian with English subtitles. An Italian prix fixe dinner will be served at intermission. Note special start time of 5:45. Register by noon on Monday, November 5th.
