Ideal 18

Sailing is an enjoyable activity for many people who like water sports and outdoor recreation. Stonington Harbor Yacht Club (SHYC) maintains a fleet of Ideal 18 boats that are great for day sailing. These keelboats offer a stable platform that is comfortable for sailors of all levels. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced sailor, you can enjoy a casual afternoon harbor cruise or participate in the Stonington Harbor Wednesday Night Racing series with our fleet.

The public is invited to sail on an Ideal with a qualified SHYC skipper. Please call the SHYC front desk at (860) 535-0112 at least five business days in advance and we will match you up with a skipper and an acceptable time slot. Participation is limited to two outings per individual and the cost is $25 per sail. This is a great way to try out a keelboat with a self-tacking jib.  Stonington Harbor Yacht Club welcomes new members.
