The Ideal Women Sailing Program is open to all women members and seeks to improve seamanship and on-the-water confidence through instruction, recreational sailing, and friendly competition. Additionally, the social component of the Ideal Women fosters friendships through events and activities.

The Ideal Women Sailing Program makes use of the six boat club-owned Ideal 18 fleet. The boats are renowned for their ease of use, comfort and practicality for instruction, competitive and recreational sailing applications.

SHYC is a proud member of Women on the Water (WOW) of Long Island Sound, an enthusiastic group of over 400 women sailors from 15 CT and NY area yacht clubs who love to sail, race, learn and socialize at events, regattas and workshops throughout the year.
