Michael Tougias, author and co-author of more than 24 books, several of which describe harrowing storm disasters at sea and their corresponding tragedies and survival stories, one of which was made into a Disney movie - Finest Hours, a Coast Guard rescue story with Chris Pine, Casey Affleck, Ben Foster, Eric Bana.  

Michael will share his research and commentary regarding his co-authored book So Close to Home: The World War II story of survival of the American Down's family along with other passengers and merchant seaman and the U-boat that attacked them in the Gulf of Mexico in 1942. A true story of men and women pitted against the sea during World War II—and an unforgettable portrait of the determination of the human spirit.  Tougias will use slides of the attack, the survivors, and the rescue to make this “an edge-of-your seat” multi-media program.

The agenda for the evening will be as follows:

5:30 pm – Meet & Greet with book signing (bring your books or order online and ask Michael to bring your books with him)

6:00 pm – Presentation

7:00 pm – Dinner with the Author

Michael Tougias grew up in Longmeadow Massachusetts, (his family owned the Tougias Bakery) attended Longmeadow public schools and St. Michael's College in Vermont.  He currently co-resides in Eastern Massachusetts and Hobe Sound Florida.
